INFORMATION FOR PRE AND AFTER SPRAY TANNING

Before having your Spray Tan make sure you are not wearing any underarm deodorant, perfume or makeup as this will affect the result of the Tan.

Make sure you wear loose clothing once you have had your Tan applied.

Always exfoliate skin prior to a Spray Tan for optimum results, especially the knees and elbows as these areas tend to be quite dry. Do not apply any moisturizers onto skin.

The tan will develop over the next 12 hours, for a natural looking tan fair skinned clients should wash off excess colour within the first 4 – 6 hours.

Do not shower, swim, apply makeup or perfume for at least 4 hours after your Spray Tan.

Sweat may also cause the colour to run do not exercise heavily for at least 4 hours.

There a several types of Spray Tan solutions ranging from a clear through to a Bronzer, the most common colour used is the Medium Tan which gives a very natural looking colour over the developing time.

What are Bronzers?
Bronzers are the same as a cosmetic bronzer you would use on your face, such as a foundation. You can tell if a lotion has a bronzer it is a brown colour. These bronzers will, wash off in water.
What is DHA?
DHA is a self tanning agent that reacts with amino acids in the skin to oxidize the top layer of skin and create a tan appearance. DHA in tanning lotions usually develops within 4 hours and can last up to 5 days.
What is a tingle? How does it work?
Tingle cream is designed to speed up the tanning process and is not recommended for beginners. A tingle lotion works by mildly irritating the skin, this stimulates the epidermis making blood rise to the surface feeding your melanocytes sites more vitamins and nutrients. The more nutrients and vitamins in your epidermis the more melanin you will produce.
What does Photosensitizing mean?
Some prescription drugs may be photosenitizer's. It is not advisable to Tan in a Tanning machine should you be taking any of these drugs.
Will Tanning affect my scar?
In most cases, scars - whether from an incision or from burns don't tan very well. Instead of tanning, they often become sensitive to UV light and can burn more easily. Do I need to protect my Tattoo?

Cover fresh tattoo's with a good sunscreen or lip balm with sunscreen. The chemicals injected into the skin to create the tattoo can make the area very sensitive to UV exposure while the tattoo is healing. After the skin has healed, using a little sunscreen for protection is still recommended. Although the chemicals have lost their photosensitivity, the colours will begin to fade with UV exposure whether outdoors or indoors.
